Jo Aylwin is a textile artist. She is a hand weaver and this is her main medium of work, although she also uses felting and embroidery. Jo is interested in using the structure and form which weaving inherently gives to work as the boundaries which can be pushed and within which abstracted images interpreting natural phenomena can be produced. What fibres are used is critical to any piece and will reflect on what is being explored at the time. Most of her works are of a decorative nature and include wall hangings and framed pieces which are for hanging in a domestic environment.
Jo also makes small pieces of bespoke material on a commission basis. For more information on commission work please see “Commission Work”.
