Commissioning a piece from Jo
I am is happy to undertake commissions for production of wall hangings, decorative pieces and small amounts of bespoke materials.
On any commission I will discuss with you what your requirements are. Based on these a quote will be given for the creation of a mood board and initial ideas for the piece required. If the initial ideas are accepted a further quote will be given for development work leading to the production of test pieces. If a test piece is accepted then a further quote will be given for a production piece. Payments will be expected at each stage of the process.
Commission work may include hand dying specific yarns for the creation of the piece.
Costs of materials will be included in any quote.
Examples of the process of a commissioned pieces is shown below.
Cushion commission 2015
These two samples were produced in collaboration with Clare Laughland.
They are designed as fabric for use on cushions, to compliment a room where the theme colours are greys, mushrooms and/or browns.
The same colours have been used in two different patterns. All colours were hand dyed for this project.
Below is a simplified mood board showing the inspirations for the colours and textures of the cushion material.
I was commissioned to make material for use covering an old church bench to be used in a bedroom.
The request was that the material should be a cheque or tartan but should go with the colouring of a particular throw.
For this piece I dyed all the coloured yarn used to tie in the colours required and developed a tartan type pattern.
